The Difference Between Mammograms and Thermograms
The single most common question that we get is "what is the difference in my mammograms and a thermogram?"
This is such a great question.
The reason most women ask this question is they are trying to determine which one is better.
No one wants to have exams or procedures that are unnecessary so most women are looking to do one type of breast exam and be done.
So which is better? Mammogram or thermogram?
The honest answer is both.
That's because they are two totally different forms of looking at breast health.
A mammogram looks at the structure of the breasts.
It can tell us if the breast has a tumorous growth, calcification, density of the breast tissue, and so on.
Is it important to know these things? You betcha.
A thermogram, on the other hand, looks at the function of the breast tissue.
It can tell us the shape and distribution of the blood vessels, the amount of inflammation in the breast, as well as what one breast looks like compared to the other.
Are these things important? Absolutely!
Trying to determine which is better would be like trying to determine if an EKG or MRI is better.
They're both important in evaluating certain conditions.
If you had one without the other you would be missing really important information about your health.
You would only have one side of the story.
We want you to have both sides of the story and to make the most educated decision about your health.
