Size Matters

Just yesterday I had someone call the practice asking a ton of really great questions about how thermography works.

During our conversation she asked several questions about the type of camera that we use and if that actually matters.

The answer is yes!

We use the Spectron C-500 IR Camera system which is top of the line.

There are several different reasons this camera is considered the gold standard.

The main reason, however, is it's sheer size.

Unlike the cameras in your phone and digital cameras, smaller is not better in thermography.

The camera consumes electricity to run which produces heat.

In a small camera, this heat can impact the quality of the image.

In the Spectron camera these parts are sectioned off and spaced away from the other parts of the camera so as to no produce an inaccurate image.

The camera also has a larger lens which allows for more infrared light to pass through it.

The more light that passes through the better the image quality and accuracy.
